has revealed that she wore Chanel and red lipstick every day during as she wowed for the July issue of .

The actress, 36, looked effortlessly chic for the photoshoot and in an accompanying interview she candidly spoke about her family life during the pandemic.

Talking about how she boosted morale during lockdown, Keira revealed that she wore Chanel every day and even plaited ribbons into her six-year-old daughter Edie's hair, adding: 'What is the point of these lovely things sitting in the wardrobe!'

Lockdown: Keira Knightley has revealed that she wore Chanel and red lipstick every day during lockdown as she wowed for the July issue of Harper's Bazaar UK 

Keira, who also applied red lipstick daily, shares daughters Edie and Delilah, 21 months, with her musician husband James Righton, 37.    

The actress told the magazine: 'We have a trampoline in our garden, and we decided we were only allowed to wear dresses on it. 

'I put on red lipstick every day, and every bit of Chanel that I have in my cupboard, and my daughter Edie had Chanel ribbons plaited into her hair and fairy wings. 

'I thought, "What is the point of these lovely things sitting in the wardrobe, when it feels quite apocalyptic and scary outside?" It felt so important to be really happy for the kids!'

Morale: Talking about how she boosted morale during lockdown, Keira revealed that she wore Chanel every day and even plaited ribbons into her six-year-old daughter Edie's hair, adding: 'What is the point of these lovely things sitting in the wardrobe!'

Keira also spoke about her new project, which is based on the sci-fi novel Ancillary Justice, and how she balances researching for the character with motherhood.

The actress said: 'It's about power. The questions within my character are, "What is the purpose of conquest? What are the motivations to rule?" 

'So I'm reading lots of books about dictators, and fantasising about intergalactic domination while I'm doing the washing-up and changing the baby's nappy...'

Keira, a long-time Chanel muse, also spoke about late designer Karl Lagerfeld, who passed away from pancreatic cancer aged 85 in February 2019.

Karl was was widely credited with overhauling the French luxury house, once known for its sensible tweed two-pieces, into a cutting-edge fashion powerhouse synonymous with smudged eyeliner, show-stopping couture and futuristic minis.

As of 2019, he boasted an A-list following including the likes of Keira and Kristen Stewart and Chanel was turning over around $10bn (£7.7bn) a year. 

Talking about meeting Karl for the first time, Keira joked that she was 'too young to be terrified of him'.

The star recalled: 'I was probably too young to be terrified of him, and I didn't know enough about fashion. I was staying at the Ritz, and when I opened the wardrobe, I found all these Chanel clothes in there. 

'I just thought the room hadn't been cleaned, so I phoned down to reception to say someone had left their clothes behind, and they said they were for my stay. But not to keep. It's always a Cinderella moment.'

Elsewhere during the interview, Keira spoke about the 'f**king depressing' misogyny and harassment she has experienced in her life.

The actress said: 'It was when women started listing all the precautions they take when they walk home to make sure they're safe, and I thought, "I do every single one of them," and I don't even think about it.

'It's f**king depressing. I think that's why I'm enjoying listening to [Manda Scott's] Boudica.' 

Keira added about the harassment she has experienced in her life: 'I mean, everybody has. 

'Literally, I don't know anyone who hasn't been, in some way, whether it's being flashed at, or groped, or some guy saying they're going to slit your throat, or punching you in the face, or whatever it is, everybody has.' 

For the photoshoot, Keira wowed in a collection of stunning ensembles with one look consisting of a strapless black tweed Chanel top adorned with pearls and the fashion house's classic chain detailing.

In a different ensemble, the actress opted for a black flared maxi skirt teamed with a white ruffled blouse and dazzling thick waist belt.

Another look saw the mother-of-two in a denim patterned floral co-ord as she lay across a rug in a field for a radiant snap.
