Jennifer Lawrence almost went completely deaf because of an on-set accident

Jennifer Lawrence is one of the most beloved actresses in Hollywood, and undoubtedly so. Her down-to-earth aura and incredibly charming personality coupled with her friendly and super-realistic way with everything (and also having her way with everything) has earned her immense love from fans worldwide. But it was only due to this personality that the actress lost hearing on one of the sets of her films.

This film was from The Hunger Games series where Lawrence not only lost her hearing while shooting but also nearly drowned. Making matters worse, she even made a bad decision that could have seriously affected her: not going to the doctor for treatment.

Jennifer Lawrence Went Deaf In One Ear On The Sets Of The Hunger Games

Jennifer Lawrence is renowned for having her way with everything, and that’s exactly what she did while shooting for The Hunger Games film series, despite being injured in one ear.

Appearing in an interview with BBC Radio 1, she talked about the day when she lost her hearing and almost drowned during the shoot.

“That was a day of great sorrow. But not regret. Yeah, I was deaf in one ear for like a bit, and I didn’t go to the doctor. [Laughs] I was just like, ‘I’m fine! I don’t know why. I don’t need to go to the doctor, I’m fine!’”

To this, interviewer Ali Plumb sarcastically added, “Also, ‘Say that again? The doctor?’” But Lawrence quickly cleared out with a laugh how that was just because of her attention deficit disorder.

“No, it’s just about my ADD. I was in the water and there was like a scuba tank next to me, and Francis [Lawrence] came up to give me a direction. And I was looking at him, and then he saw me just trying to listen but I kept [looking at the scuba tank] and he goes, ‘Just play with it.’ And I was like, ‘Thanks.’ And so I played with it, I tinkered with it, and then I went, ‘Okay, sorry.’ And then he started talking, and I look past him, and I’m like, ‘OOH, WATERMELON!’ And he goes, ‘Just… f*** it.’ [Laughs]”

This just proves one thing: No matter how serious the situation may be, Jennifer Lawrence can always find a way to make the people around her forget all the tension for some time in a cheeky way without even being annoying.

Jennifer Lawrence Feels She Made A Family On The Hunger Games

Continuing in the interview, Jennifer Lawrence then shared how grateful she is to her mom for persuading her to take on the role. She said:

“I was so grateful. No, those films changed my life in the best way possible, and I remember thinking, ‘Okay, this is because Twilight had come out.’ So we had kind of seen these YA novels and what that really means. And I was like, ‘Okay, there will come times when you regret that. But you love this character, you love this movie.’ And I have to say, I’ve never regretted one day of it.”

She then shared how the relationships she had made on the set had become one of the fondest memories for her from The Hunger Games.

“I think [the fondest memories of filming those movies were] the relationships that I made. You know, Liam [Hemsworth], Woody [Harrelson], Francis Lawrence], and I — we were like a family.”

No doubt Jennifer Lawrence is one of the most hyped-up and adored celebrities of all time.
