Actress dedicated a significant amount of time to practicing and training with a bow and arrow to master the skill for her role in franchise. Interestingly, she even owned a pair herself, fortunately, she never had to use them in a real-life scenario until one instance where having those skills almost came in handy.
The actress recounted a once-scary, now-hilarious incident to , where she found herself using her acquired archery skills to defend herself. She revealed,
“One time I actually used it for defense. I pulled into my garage and I heard men in my house. And I was like, ‘I’m not letting them take my stuff. I had just gotten back from training, so I had the bow and arrows in the back of my car. I went to my car and I put this quiver on me and I had my bow and I loaded it and I’m walking up the stairs. And I look, and my patio doors were open, and there were guys working right there, and I was like, ‘Heyyy, how you doin’?'”
She continued stating,
“They were like, ‘We’ve got to stage someone to break into your house and you can kill them!’ That would be the funniest news ever. Katniss Everdeen actually kills someone with a bow and arrow”
Following that heroic event, when she bragged to her friend about it, they couldn’t help but laugh at how her Katniss Everdeen skills came into play.

“I really, really enjoyed archery. I had an amazing instructor, Khatuna. She was Georgian. She was an excellent instructor — very, very strict. If I had bad form, she would pinch my ear. She didn’t really put up with anything. It totally changed my body. It was so crazy, when I went back for the fitting for the second movie for ‘Catching Fire,’ my shoulders were two inches broader and my right arm is one inch longer than my left arm, permanently, I guess. But I really enjoy it.”
