Keira Knightley lights a cigarette while filming Boston Strangler

appeared to jump into character with ease as she lit a cigarette while filming the '60s thriller Boston Strangler on Sunday afternoon.

The 36-year-old actress portrays journalist Loretta McLaughlin who uncovered a series of murders that took place between 1962-64 in the area.

Knightley seemed to be in great health months after she contracted a breakthrough case of at the end of the year despite being double vaccinated.

Keira sported a dark green overcoat with a navy blue sweater peering out from underneath as snow fell on the production.

Her dark brown hair was worn short and tightly curled, and her makeup was kept simple with a red lip and bold brows.

She carried a brown leather purse across her shoulder while chatting with a few co-stars on set.

The film is based on the Boston Strangler murders that took place from 1962-64 which left 13 women dead.

Directed by Matt Ruskin, the flick also stars Carrie Coon, David Dastmalchian, Rory Cochrane and Chris Cooper.  

Keira described her challenging battle with COVID-19 in an interview with the Sunday Telegraph's Stella magazine.
