There is a photo that is just over twenty years old that continues to show up again and again - a skinny kid wearing baggy grey mesh shorts standing shirtless with a sign next to him. The sign in black marker reads "qb number one", the number one only on the sign because the kid's last name, Brady, was alphabetically first in the list of quarterback prospects participating in the year 2000 NFL combine under the words "qb number one" and his name. Brady and college Michigan were the number 6043 which was his height and 211 his weight at the time. The other numbers on the sign that were recorded from his combine workout were less than impressive, a 4.5 inch vertical leap, a broad jump of 8 and a quarter inch and the ugliest of all the famous forty yard dash that took him 5.28 seconds - the second slowest overall at the quarterback position that year. Now with that selection, the New England Patriots take a quarterback from Walla Walla, Washington by the name of Drew Bledsoe, who actually was the man predicted to be the saving grace for a dismal franchise that had not been to the playoffs in over seven seasons and a team who had only two wins the previous season. Hence their first overall slot... Let's watch the video to find out more!
