The donation is part of a larger settlement agreement that awarded Depp $10 million and Heard $2 million. Depp's attorney stated that he prioritized bringing the truth to light throughout the process. Heard settled to avoid another "arduous and expensive legal process." Depp filed the defamation suit after Heard wrote an op-ed about her experiences with sexual assault and harassment in Hollywood, which he claimed was referencing him.
